Rules and Points System:

  • In an effort to make this series as fair to everyone as possible, the following rules are presented to insure everyone is treated as equal in each and every tournament.
  • Only smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass will be weighed. Spotted bass will be weighed as Largemouth for the sake of "Big Fish." All fish must me caught on a rod & reel using only artificial lures.
  • There will be a Big Fish category for Largemouth, and another for Smallmouth (all bass that are not clearly pure smallmouth, will be weighed as largemouth for Big Fish calculations).
  • There is a five (5) fish limit during the Tuesday night tournaments. All Fish must measure at least 14". No short fish are allowed at the scales. If any undersize fish are brought to the scales, then that contestant (team) will be disqualified from that evening's tournament. No points will be awarded. Fish will be measured on a Golden Rule. It is your responsibility to measure your fish before bringing them to the scales.
  • In the event of a tie for total weight, the team with the heaviest single fish will be awarded the position. In the event of a tie for "big fish," the team with the heaviest total weight will be awarded the position. Please note: it is the responsibility of the team members to ask that their largest fish be weighed and to pick the particular fish.
  • Teams wishing to be counted as in attendance, for the purpose of accumulating points for the season, but are unable to attend, payment in full can be made prior to blast off and the team will be counted as “participating”.
  • At least one team member must pay IN PERSON at the ramp prior to blast off for that team to be awarded points for that week. NOTE: "Sending Money" with another team will not qualify as "participating" in that week's tournament.
  • If, for any reason, anyone wishes to contest a fellow contestant's catch, it must be presented in writing within 15 minutes of weigh-in time.
  • All contestants must wear their life jackets during take-off. We strongly urge you to wear life jackets any time the big motor is running.
  • Foothills Marine Center, as official tournament sponsor will have the final say in any disputes or rules infractions that may occur associated with a tournament event. In addition, we reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone, for any reason.
  • We ask that you please bring your fish to the scales in a timely manner. Please make your best effort to insure your catch remains alive and can be released back into Lake James. There will be an 8 ounce penalty for the first dead fish weighed and no more than one (1) dead fish may be weighed per team, per tournament.
  • All big fish must be alive throughout the weigh-in to be eligible for the big fish award.
  • If there are no responses immediately following last call, the scales will be officially closed.
  • Contestants must be off plane, idling in, within a reasonable distance from the no-wake buoy by 10:00 pm. You are late at 10:01 pm and if you bring any fish to the scales you will be disqualified from the evening's tournament and receive 0 points.
